April 20th – Prinicpal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am providing you another quick update to let you know how much we appreciate your flexibility and adaptability, while we work with your children remotely and online. Many of your children have started to participate in remote classrooms through Google and Microsoft Teams. This has allowed us to continue the rich and meaningful learning that has always been a feature of the Home Learners Program at Hume Park.

ACCESS TO HUME PARK LEARNING CENTRE CONTINUES TO BE RESTRICTED
While we do have some staff working on site at Hume Park, access to the Learning Centre continues to be restricted. Again, if your family requires access to resources or essential items (eg. Medication, eye glasses, etc.), please contact your Learning Consultant directly and we will schedule a time for you to come by.
As a reminder, if you are picking up any items, please send one family member to pick them up. This will minimize help us minimize social contact and maximize physical distancing.

COSTCO FOOD RESCUE PROGRAM
The Costco Food Recuse Program continues to operate, but at a different location.
Parent volunteers are now dropping off food at the NWSS Cafeteria on Tuesdays. If you would like to receive a Food Rescue Hamper, please email me each Monday morning with ‘RESCUE HAMPER’ in the subject line- jsadler@sd40.bc.ca.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays between 11:30 am-1:00 pm you can pick up your Rescue Hamper from the courtyard next to the NWSS library, accessed via 8th street circular driveway- 835 Eighth Street. NWSS Support Staff will assist you with the pick up.

HELP IS AVAILABLE
If we can provide you and your family some assistance, please do not hesitate to ask us. Whether it is with food security, counseling, academic support, or technology needs, please let us know. We will do our best to assist you. You may email me or your Learning Consultant directly with your requests.
In the meantime, we hope you and your families are staying healthy. We also hope you have found some time to enjoy the outdoors during this stretch of good weather.

Take good care,
Jamie
