Home Learners Program
The Home Learners Program (HLP) is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 Provincial Online Learning (POL) program offered through New Westminster Schools.
Brightspace is the primary learning platform for all HLP students and serves as the central hub for curriculum delivery, learning activities, communication, submission of student work, assessment, feedback, and reporting. Students and families are expected to access and engage with Brightspace regularly.
BC-certified teachers provide curriculum-aligned learning activities, develop Student Learning Plans, assess student learning, monitor progress, and provide ongoing feedback and support. Families play an important role in supporting student learning and engagement while working in partnership with their child’s teacher.
In addition to online learning, students may participate in optional in-person learning opportunities, community-based experiences, and school events offered through the Hume Park Learning Centre. Together, students, families, and teachers create a collaborative learning environment that supports student success and lifelong learning.
